Welcome to my new website!

It is not completely up and running just yet, but for all the users of Yamaha’s

excellent DS2416 (a.k.a. DSP Factory) audio card out there, asking where

LUI went after all other known download sites vanished, I decided to give

it a home in here for the time being…

Who’s LUI?

LUI was a freeware software utility, designed specifically to control the

complete set of functions within Yamaha’s DS2416 audio card. All of the

big-name DAW suites dropped their built-in DSP Factory control facilities

long ago, and Yamaha hasn’t been supporting the card for years by now.

The DS2416 was launched in early 1999, for those who can’t or don’t bother to

remember. It was a unique pro-audio card at the time, and powerful enough

to still hold its own against many alternative solutions in several aspects.

I believe this is why so many users have stuck with it, and it’s quite a track

record in the computer world!

LUI has a very small footprint, both in terms of screen real estate and

RAM/CPU usage. This makes it ideal for those who still have their DS2416

installed in PCs from its era. Running next to your DAW, LUI allows you to

access all the advanced goodies that are packed inside the DS2416.

Most importantly:

·         I/O setup and routing

·         Bus and Aux sends

·         Per-channel EQ and Dynamics

·         Multi-FX processors

and more…

LUI makes it easy to save mixer and control parameter setups. These can then

be used as templates for tracking, mixing, etc. You’ll have to live without

automation, however, which is a whole’nother story.

For the time being, you can download LUI using the links below:

You can also view the LUI manual online here.

Other options?

If you’re a more-than-casual user, I suggest you try getting your hands on DSPctrl;

this is the one I use personally, and the only alternative still being developed.

The demo is time-limited, but otherwise fully functional, so that you can give it a

thorough test-run. The price for unlocking the full version is also very reasonable!

Alternatively, but a lot trickier, you could scour the web for a second-hand copy

of C-Console by C-Mexx, which sadly isn’t available anymore…

If you have any questions regarding the use of the DS2416 and SW1000XG audio

cards, as well as the DSPctrl software, you’ll probably find answers on the user

forum located at http://www.ds2416.org/!

SW1000XG FlashROM updates:

Below, you’ll find the latest versions of the SW1000XG firmware. These builds

fix the issue with Insert effects not being passed on to Sub outputs 1-8, and allow

your PLG cards to use these outputs as well. The two versions are identical, except

that the Analog input will default to either Line or Mic level, when the card is reset:

-          SW1000XG firmware v.1.061 (Mic level input by default)

-          SW1000XG firmware v.1.066 (Line level input by default)

Happy music-making!
